Kuehne+Nagel is preparing for the new environmental restrictions in Italy: from 1 October 2025, the four northern regions of Piedmont, Lombardy, Emilia-Romagna and Veneto will ban Euro 5 diesel vehicles from entering cities with a population of over 30,000.

In Lombardy, the ban will apply year-round on weekdays from 7:30 to 19:30. In Piedmont, the restrictions will apply from 1 October to 15 April (in subsequent years – from 15 September), on weekdays from 8:30 to 18:30. In Emilia-Romagna, a similar regime will be in effect until 31 March each year. The strictest measures have been announced in Veneto – here, Euro 5 vehicles will be banned from entering around the clock, seven days a week.

Kuehne+Nagel notes that they are already working on reorienting their fleet and optimizing routes to ensure compliance with the new regulations and maintain the stability of their supply chains. The innovations are aimed at improving the environmental situation and implementing the decisions of the EU Court.
