Highlighting its significant development, HHLA PLT Italy, the versatile terminal of Hamburger Hafen und Logistik AG in Trieste, joyfully welcomes the inaugural call from Ocean Network Express (ONE) to launch the new service – Adriatic Israel Butterfly (AIB). This collaboration is a crucial connection for HHLA PLT Italy to key markets, solidifying its role as an increasingly important Adriatic Hub.
The AIB service by Ocean Network Express establishes a key link between the North Adriatic and Egypt in one loop, and Egypt with Israel in the other. As part of its regular operations, the service includes calls at ports such as Koper, Trieste, Venice, Ancona, Piraeus, Alexandria, Damietta, Haifa, and Ashdod.
Antonio Barbara, the Managing Director of HHLA PLT Italy, expresses satisfaction, stating, “We are pleased that ONE chose HHLA PLT as their terminal in Trieste. The AIB Service is linking our terminal to new important markets in the East Mediterranean, such as Egypt and Israel, as well as worldwide destinations through ONE’s hubs. HHLA PLT Italy, an integral part of the HHLA Group, continues to play a crucial role in the Italian Freeport of Trieste. Operating as a common user and multipurpose terminal since 2021, it efficiently handles RoRo, Container, General, and Project Cargo. The terminal’s in-terminal rail connection enhances synergies among various traffics handled, supported by an efficient container freight station (CFS) and warehousing services. The in-terminal rail tracks contribute to strengthening transportation sustainability by efficiently connecting goods to their final destinations in Central and Eastern Europe.
