HHLA TK Estonia, a subsidiary of Hamburger Hafen und Logistik AG, is starting the grain season with innovations in handling and storage at the Muuga Port Terminal. The company has expanded its capacity by building three new storage bays and improving the automated entry and weighing systems. The largest warehouse operator in the region now offers a variety of pellet and grain storage options. The terminal has 86,500 m² of specialised indoor storage space and extensive outdoor areas. This expansion will enable the handling of up to 500,000 tonnes of cargo per year, strengthening the company’s position in the Baltic logistics sector.

The new bulk terminal concept includes modern storage solutions, digital innovations and advanced loading equipment with dual power technology. A highlight of the development is the Mantsinen 120 DER mobile hydrocrane, which can handle up to 620 tonnes of cargo per hour. This crane, the first in the Baltics, is equipped with both electric motors and a diesel engine, ensuring flexibility and efficiency in operation.

In line with HHLA TK Estonia’s commitment to sustainability, the new facilities include three solar power plants on the roofs of the warehouses with a total capacity of 310 kWp. The integration of renewable energy allows for a significant reduction in greenhouse gas emissions during loading operations.
