A joint venture between Japanese companies Penta-Ocean Construction and TOA Corporation has been awarded a contract to build the first phase of the new Matarbari deep-water port in Bangladesh. The project is worth $490 million and will take three and a half years to complete.
The transition follows a five-year partnership and positions Swissterminal to align its operations with DP World’s global network.
At a meeting of the Parliamentary Commission on Maritime Economy and Inland Navigation, Dorota Pycz, President of the Port of Gdansk, called on the state to allocate funds for the development of rail and road connections with deep-water terminals on the port island. According to her, such investments are of strategic importance for Poland.
