The transport and communications holding AZCON has been established in Azerbaijan.

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev signed a decree on the establishment of the Azerbaijan Transport and Communications Holding (AZCON), which will unite the country’s key transport enterprises. The created structure, which is a legal entity of public law, was transferred the management of Azerbaijan Railways, the Caspian Shipping Company, the Baku International Sea Trade Port, the Baku Shipyard and other state-owned companies.

LKZ and Wabtec expand locomotive production and service in Kazakhstan.

JSC Lokomotiv Kurastyru Zauyty (LKZ) has successfully delivered 451 freight, 83 passenger and 19 shunting locomotives to KTZ-Freight Transportation LLC and plans to deliver another 128 freight and 11 passenger locomotives by 2027. Locomotives of the TE33A, TE33AS, TEP33A and TEM11 series are manufactured under supply and maintenance agreements, and are also repaired jointly with Kamkor Locomotive LLC at eight sites across Kazakhstan.

The Baltic States and the EU are launching a project for the unified management of Rail Baltica.

Belgorod-Dnestrovsky port sold at auction for 90 million UAH.

The auction for the sale of the single property complex of the state enterprise Belgorod-Dnistrovsky Commercial Sea Port ended with a successful deal. Kazakhstan is developing the ports of Kuryk and Aktau.

Active development of new logistics infrastructure continues in the Kuryk port in Kazakhstan. At the end of September, the first batch of cargo was received at the Sarzha terminal of the multifunctional sea terminal, and by the end of October, a ship with 4.5 thousand tons of metal is planned to be dispatched. The development project is being carried out by the Kazakhstani company SEMURG INVEST, which has completed key stages of construction, including berths and railway approaches. It is planned to fully complete all Sarzha facilities by 2030, which, according to the company’s CEO Nurzhan Marabayev, will increase the throughput capacity of the Middle Corridor by 10 million tons per year.

Maersk has entered into a long-term agreement with LONGi to supply bio-methanol to the fleet.

Moller – Maersk has signed a long-term agreement with LONGi Green Energy Technology Co., Ltd. for the supply of bio-methanol, which will help reduce greenhouse gas emissions from the company’s fleet that uses two types of fuel, including methanol. The agreement strengthens Maersk’s strategy to secure alternative fuel sources for its vessels. There are currently seven methanol-powered vessels in operation, and with the new volumes, Maersk aims to meet more than 50% of its fleet’s methanol needs by 2027.
