PSA unboXed and Amperesand launch pilot project to decarbonize Singapore Port.

PSA unboXed, the venture capital arm of PSA International, has partnered with Amperesand, a specialist in grid infrastructure solutions, to jointly test technologies aimed at decarbonising ports and sustainable logistics. The partnership will see a pilot project using Amperesand’s solid-state transformer (SST) technology at the Port of Singapore, which will form part of PSA’s new electric truck charging stations.

The dredging project at the southern pier of the Adriatic Gate terminal in the Port of Rijeka has been completed.

The Port of Rijeka has completed the Adriatic Gate terminal infrastructure modernization project, which involves deepening the bottom of the southern pier. The initiative, implemented within the framework of the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) program, was supported by the European CEF Blending Fund, providing co-financing of 20% of the total project cost, which amounted to EUR 17.39 million, including VAT. The remaining 80% of the funding came from the earmarked funds of the Port of Rijeka Authority.

JCL Logistics launches first all-electric container route.

JCL Logistics, together with Contargo Combitrac and Tchibo, has launched the first all-electric container transport between Hof (Bavaria) and Cheb (Bohemia). Since August, two of the four new 40-tonne electric Volvo FH Electric trucks have been test driving on the approximately 50-kilometre route, which is an important part of Tchibo’s non-food supply chain. The trucks have an output of 666 hp and a range of up to 300 kilometres, enabling up to 50% of the transport on this route to be carried out with minimal environmental impact.

A new grain terminal has begun operating in the port of Kuryk.

The construction of a new grain terminal has been completed in the port of Kuryk, which has already begun operating in test mode. The terminal’s capacity is one million tons of grain per year, which will significantly increase the export of Kazakh grain to Iran and the Caucasus. This year, 1.6 million tons of various cargo have already been transported along the Middle Corridor through the port of Kuryk, which provides up to 80% of the cargo flow from China and Central Asia to Europe.

Yusen Logistics reorganizes GHQ into a new company.

Yusen Logistics Co., Ltd. (YLK) announced a reorganization of its global management structure, separating the Global Headquarters (GHQ) into a separate company — Yusen Logistics Global Management Co., Ltd. (YLGM). This move is part of the corporate transformation under the grand strategy “TRANSFORM 2025.” Previously, the headquarters and the Japan region were managed separately, but will now become independent structures with functions that provide more flexible and responsive decision-making and strengthen management.

Dostyk wagon depot improves safety and efficiency of train maintenance.

In the first nine months of 2024, the Dostyk operational wagon depot achieved significant improvements in the safety and efficiency of wagon maintenance, reducing the number of accidents and increasing throughput. During this time, 39,672 trains were inspected, which is 4.6% more than in the same period last year, and 132,065 wagons were delivered for loading, which is 16.4% higher than in 2023.

“WT Terminal” introduces solar energy in the port of Riga.

WT Terminal, a company operating in the Port of Riga, has launched a solar power plant to cover part of its electricity needs from environmentally friendly sources. 480 solar panels with a capacity of 220.8 kW have been installed on the roof of the warehouse complex. The project, which was launched in 2023 with the support of the ALTUM program and Citadele Bank, will help reduce the company’s energy dependence and increase its efficiency, especially in the energy-intensive timber processing process.

Azerbaijan Railways introduces reforms to develop the Middle Corridor.

In order to develop international transport corridors through Azerbaijan and increase their competitiveness, Azerbaijan Railways is actively implementing reforms and improvements. The key area has become cooperation with international partners on the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route to promote the Middle Corridor, which ensures the transit of goods from East to West. In 2024, work began on the establishment of the Eurasian Transport Corridor Association.
