Dako Worldwide Transport strengthens PCN’s position in Western Europe.

German company Dako Worldwide Transport has become a new member of the international Project Cargo Network (PCN), expanding the organization’s presence in Western Europe. Dako has offices in Dusseldorf and Bremen and is part of the CF&S Group, which already represents PCN in Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Kazakhstan and Georgia.

Ukraine and Austria are strengthening cooperation in logistics and the international postal arena.

Deputy Minister for Development of Communities and Territories of Ukraine Andriy Bratus held a meeting with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Austria to Ukraine Martin Robert Müller. The main topic was mutual assistance in the elections to the governing bodies of the Universal Postal Union (UPU), which will be held in September 2025 in Dubai. Ukraine is applying for membership in the Administrative Council and the Postal Operations Council of the UPU, which will allow it to influence international rules in the field of postal logistics and strengthen international cooperation.

The Port of Klaipeda increased its cargo turnover by 16% and strengthened its leadership among the Baltic ports.

In the first half of 2025, the port of Klaipeda handled almost 19 million tons of cargo, which is 16% more than in the same period last year. The growth was driven by container traffic (6.5 million tons, +38%), as well as increased volumes in the LNG (+47%), mineral and construction materials (+48%), ro-ro (+6%) and oil products (+4%) segments. The container volume reached almost 700 thousand TEU, and the port is expected to exceed the 1 million TEU mark by the end of the year.

Ulm-Dornstadt terminal extension: DB launches construction of a second module.

The project involves the addition of a second module, intended to more than double the terminal’s transshipment capacity by 2028. The investment is jointly funded by DB, the German federal government, and the European Union, amounting to approximately EUR 148 million (converted from the originally stated 148 million EUR investment).

LTG Group is accelerating the construction of Rail Baltica – the first columns of the longest bridge in the Baltics have already been installed.

LTG Group CEO Egidijus Lazauskas and Lithuanian Minister of Transport and Communications Eugenijus Sabutis visited the Rail Baltica construction sites in Jonava, where the construction of a 46.3 km section of the new railway is actively progressing. Contractors from Lithuania and Italy are working here, and the first columns of the longest railway bridge in the Baltics have already been installed – it will be 40 meters high and 1.51 km long. The bridge across the Neris River is expected to be completed by the end of 2026, with a third of the work already completed.

Turkish ports increased cargo turnover in January-April despite a decline in April.

According to the General Directorate of Maritime Affairs under the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure of Turkey, the total cargo turnover of Turkish ports in the first four months of 2025 amounted to 181.9 million tons, which is 1.4% more than in the same period of 2024. However, in April, the figure decreased by 3.2% to 43.65 million tons.

The Port of Rotterdam is testing an all-electric hydrofoil.

The innovative patrol vessel RPA ZERO, which is fully electric and virtually emission-free, has been tested on the Nieuwe Maas river in Rotterdam. The Artemis EF-12 Workboat from Artemis Technologies is equipped with hydrofoils, which allow the hull to rise above the water during acceleration, reducing drag, reducing waves and increasing energy efficiency. The tests will last until November 2025.

According to a joint report by Upply, Ti and IRU, the European Road Freight Rate Development Benchmark Report, in the first quarter of 2025, European road freight companies faced a drop in revenues amid falling contract and spot rates. The reason was sluggish consumer activity and global trade instability, which is reducing demand for products from European manufacturers.
