The dredging project at the southern pier of the Adriatic Gate terminal in the Port of Rijeka has been completed.

The Port of Rijeka has completed the Adriatic Gate terminal infrastructure modernization project, which involves deepening the bottom of the southern pier. The initiative, implemented within the framework of the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) program, was supported by the European CEF Blending Fund, providing co-financing of 20% of the total project cost, which amounted to EUR 17.39 million, including VAT. The remaining 80% of the funding came from the earmarked funds of the Port of Rijeka Authority.

“WT Terminal” introduces solar energy in the port of Riga.

WT Terminal, a company operating in the Port of Riga, has launched a solar power plant to cover part of its electricity needs from environmentally friendly sources. 480 solar panels with a capacity of 220.8 kW have been installed on the roof of the warehouse complex. The project, which was launched in 2023 with the support of the ALTUM program and Citadele Bank, will help reduce the company’s energy dependence and increase its efficiency, especially in the energy-intensive timber processing process.

Anaklia Port in Georgia to receive first ship by 2029.

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze has announced that the country’s first deep-sea port in Anaklia will receive its first vessel by 2029, possibly even earlier. Construction work has already begun, and the official opening ceremony took place on October 22. In the first stage, the Belgian company Jan De Nul will deepen the seabed to create conditions for receiving large-tonnage vessels.

A consortium led by the Romanian IT company Critical Technologies SRL and the German HPC Hamburg Port Consulting, together with the Estonian partners EN Shipping OÜ and Saaresalu OÜ, has completed the development of the specification for the Port Community System for the Port of Constanta. The goal of the project is to improve communication and increase the efficiency of the port through the implementation of an advanced digital system.

In September 2024, Ukrainian seaports handled 7.1 million tons of cargo, which is more than twice the result for the same period in 2023 (3.4 million tons). The leaders in cargo turnover were grain and ore cargo, which amounted to 4.1 million tons (compared to 2.3 million tons in 2023) and 1.3 million tons (against 249 thousand tons in 2023), respectively.
