The Port of Riga has begun an active season of processing new harvest grain.

At the end of July and beginning of August, the ports of Riga began to receive and load local grain of the new harvest, the terminal management reports. More than 10 ships with rapeseed and 3 bulk carriers with wheat have already been dispatched. This year, Riga is actively receiving grain from both Latvian and Lithuanian farmers, although record export volumes are not expected.

Dutch vessel with eSAIL sails debuts at SMM 2024.

This year, a vessel with a state-of-the-art wind assistance system (WAPS) will be presented for the first time at SMM. The Dutch cargo vessel Eems Traveller (owned by Amasus) arrived at the Überseebrücke quay in Hamburg on 3 and 4 September. Two 17-metre eSAIL sails from bound4blue are installed on board, demonstrating how wind can be used to reduce costs and emissions, while also meeting new environmental standards.

Plans for the construction of an environmentally friendly container terminal were discussed in Swinoujscie.

The press conference held at the headquarters of ZMPSiŚ SA discussed plans for the construction of the Deep-Sea Container Terminal in Świnoujście. The event was attended by the Secretary of State of the Ministry of Infrastructure Arkadiusz Marczewka, the President of ZMPSiŚ Jarosław Sierzej, the Vice President for Investments Krzysztof Sadowski and the Commissioner for Port Development Rafał Zahorski. One of the key issues was the discussion of the final decision on the choice of the location of the terminal and interaction with the local community.

Yuzhny Port has tripled its cargo handling in one year of operation of the Black Sea corridor.

During the year of operation of the Black Sea corridor, the port of Yuzhny in Ukraine handled 27.6 million tons of cargo, which is almost three times more than under the Grain Initiative. From September 2023 to August 2024, the port handled 11.7 million tons of agricultural cargo and 15.9 million tons of ore and metal products.

DIGITPORTS: Digital transformation of Adriatic ports for safety and ecology.

The DIGITPORTS project, implemented within the Interreg Italy-Croatia 2021-2027 program, aims to digitally transform the ports of the Adriatic Sea. The main objective of the project is to implement digital twin technology to improve safety and environmental friendliness of operations in the ports of the region.
