DB Cargo FLS offers a logistics solution amid renovation of the Luegg Bridge in South Tyrol.

From January 2025, traffic on the Luegg Bridge on the A13 motorway in South Tyrol will be restricted due to extensive repairs that will last until 2027. HHLA has completed the digitalisation of truck handling at its terminals in Hamburg.

Trucks at the container terminals of Hamburger Hafen und Logistik AG (HHLA) in Hamburg are now handled entirely digitally thanks to the implementation of the passify app. Following the successful launch at the Altenwerder Terminal (CTA), the transition to this innovative system has now been completed at all HHLA terminals in Hamburg. The app replaces the physical driver card, enabling safer and more efficient process management. Since the beginning of the year, more than 200,000 arrivals have already been processed using passify.

The development of the Trans-Caspian route was discussed in Tbilisi.

A meeting of the working group on the development of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR) was held in Tbilisi, where achievements and plans for the future were discussed. Over the 11 months of 2024, 50 thousand containers in twenty-foot equivalent (TEU) were transported along the route, and 328 container trains were organized, of which 304 departed from China. These indicators confirm the sustainable growth and effectiveness of the strategies being implemented.

Nippon Express Europe has signed an agreement with Ukrainian company Formag-Kiev to support the reconstruction of Ukraine.

Nippon Express Europe GmbH (NX Europe), a subsidiary of NIPPON EXPRESS HOLDINGS, INC., has signed a cooperation agreement with Ukrainian logistics provider Formag-Kiev. The goal of the cooperation is to provide logistical support for the recovery of Ukraine.

TRACECA discussed key issues at the Permanent Secretariat meeting in Georgia.

The IGC TRACECA Permanent Secretariat meeting was held in Georgia with the participation of national secretaries and experts from the ILA member states, as well as representatives of the presiding party – Georgia. TRACECA Secretary General Askar Assavbayev expressed gratitude to the Georgian side and its representative, Deputy Minister of Economy Guram Guramishvili, for the warm welcome. He also reported on the results of the events held since the previous meeting in June 2024.

DP World launches carbon footprint reduction programme at its UK terminals.

DP World has begun trials of a new Carbon Inset Programme at its London and Southampton logistics hubs to help importers reduce their emissions. From 1 January 2025, participants will receive 50kg of CO₂e carbon credits for every loaded container passing through the company’s terminals. The credits, certified by independent organisations, will be issued quarterly and demonstrate the reduction in emissions in participants’ supply chains.

Kazakhstan is modernizing transport hubs and developing international corridors.

At a government meeting, Vice Minister of Transport Maksat Kaliakparov presented measures to modernize transport infrastructure and develop international corridors. Particular attention was paid to the ports of Aktau and Kuryk, where active work is underway. Construction of a container hub has begun in Aktau, and a new grain terminal with a capacity of one million tons per year has been commissioned in Kuryk.

Kazakhstan is stepping up efforts to create cross-border hubs.

At a government meeting, Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov discussed the development of five cross-border hubs with Minister of Trade and Integration Arman Shakkaliyev. The main focus is on the Khorgos Hub for cooperation with China, the Caspian Hub on the trans-Caspian route, the Central Asia hub on the border with Uzbekistan, and the industrial trade and logistics complex near the border with Kyrgyzstan.
