Bertschi has started operations at the new AZT terminal in Antwerp.

Swiss intermodal chemical logistics specialist Bertschi has launched operations at the new Antwerp Zomerweg Terminal (AZT) in Belgium. The facility is focused on the storage of hazardous (DG) and non-hazardous products in tank containers using a trimodal service of rail, river and road.

KTZ, L.A.C. Holding and Xi’an to build a terminal in Budapest.

JSC Kazakhstan Temir Zholy (KTZ), the Hungarian company L.A.C. Holding and the Chinese Xi’an Free Trade Port Construction and Operation Co. signed a Memorandum of Cooperation in the field of transport and logistics. The agreement was reached during the state visit of the President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to Hungary. The memorandum envisages the creation of a joint intermodal cargo terminal in Budapest.

New transport connection between Turkey and Milan via Trieste.

The new service has been developed and implemented jointly by intermodal operator Alpe Adria, ro-ro operators DFDS, SBB Cargo International and the Port of Trieste. It connects the ro-ro terminal in Trieste with the Malpensa intermodal terminal in Sacconago, near Milan. The aim is to create a new sea and land bridge between Turkey and Milan, one of Italy’s major industrial centres.

In Aktau, a meeting was held between the seaport management and the delegation of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan, dedicated to the development of economic cooperation between the countries. The central topic of discussion was the initiative to create a trade and distribution center that will be able to promote Uzbek products on the Kazakhstan market and ensure the transshipment of goods to third countries.

HHLA demonstrates sustainable growth in financial performance for the first nine months of 2024.

Hamburger Hafen und Logistik AG (HHLA) increased its revenue by 8.5% to €1,182.9 million in the first three quarters of 2024. Operating profit (EBIT) increased by 23.2% to €93.2 million, while net profit amounted to €23.1 million, almost double the previous year’s figure. The improved financial results were driven by increased transport volumes, higher container storage fees at the Port of Hamburg and the expansion of the European network.

Stadler has opened a new plant in Poland for the production of traction converters.

Swiss company Stadler has opened a new production center in the Polish city of Bialystok, specializing in the production of traction and auxiliary DC/DC converters. These devices will be used in trams, metro trains and narrow-gauge rolling stock. The plant is equipped with innovative technologies that allow testing of equipment in conditions simulating real operation.

PSA International, GDTC and TITR have joined forces to develop the Green Corridor.

At the COP29 conference in Baku, a cooperation agreement was signed between PSA International, Global DTC (GDTC) and the International Association “Trans-Caspian International Transport Route” (TITR). The document is aimed at developing the Middle Corridor as an environmentally responsible and efficient route. DFDS and Ekol Logistics have terminated their deal.

Danish logistics company DFDS and Turkish Ekol Logistics have announced that they have cancelled their deal to buy the Turkish company’s international operations. The decision was made after DFDS said that Ekol had failed to meet some mandatory conditions of the agreement reached in August this year.
