The Polish government will allocate over €57.7 million to develop road and rail infrastructure in the border regions with Ukraine. The funds are being allocated under the Interreg NEXT Poland-Ukraine 2021-2027 program, according to the Polish Ministry of Foundations and Regional Policy. Of this, €52.5 million is earmarked for improving transport links, and another €5.1 million will support small economic projects.

The funding will modernize roads and railway lines, improve traffic safety, and expedite freight transport between the countries. Specifically, infrastructure will be upgraded near the cities of Augustów, Tomaszów Lubelski, Sokołów Podlaski, and Krościenko. Repairs are also planned for railway line No. 101 and the Werchrata station on the Polish side, while Ukraine will modernize the Lviv station. The total cost of the railway investments is €10.72 million.

Furthermore, the construction and reconstruction of roads on both sides of the border is planned – in Terebovlia, Kovel, Klevan, Bolekhiv, Nahirne, and Zhornava. A Small Projects Fund will be established in the Ternopil region, funding circular economy initiatives worth between €20,000 and €90,000. The Polish side emphasizes that these investments will increase corridor capacity, expedite the movement of goods, and strengthen economic cooperation between the countries.
