Kassym-Jomart Tokayev opened the second line of the Dostyk-Moiynty railway and outlined priorities for the development of Kazakhstan’s transport sector.

Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev attended the opening ceremony of the second line of the Dostyk-Moiynty railway, which coincided with the start of the 7th International Transport and Logistics Forum, New Silk Way. The head of state emphasized the project’s strategic importance for the country, noting that the new line will provide a powerful impetus for the development of the transport and logistics system and strengthen Kazakhstan’s position as a key link between Europe and Asia.

According to the President, the construction of the new line was the largest infrastructure project since Kazakhstan’s independence. The work, which lasted nearly three years, was completed ahead of schedule thanks to the efforts of railway workers. The new line will increase freight traffic volumes fivefold, expedite the delivery of export goods, and significantly enhance the country’s transit potential. Tokayev expressed gratitude to everyone involved in the project’s implementation, noting that it is the result of diligent, collaborative work.

The head of state also stated that Kazakhstan will continue to develop its transport and logistics infrastructure by investing in the construction and modernization of railways. Plans include the construction of 5,000 kilometers of new tracks and the renovation of another 11,000. Particular attention is being paid to the development of the Moiynty-Kyzylzhar route and the route to the port of Aktau, which are part of the Trans-Caspian Transport Corridor. The President emphasized that the country is actively implementing digital technologies and artificial intelligence in the industry, which will allow Kazakhstan to strengthen its role as a leading transit hub in Eurasia.
