Euroports Greece, the operator of the GEK TERNA terminal in the port of Kavala (Greece), has successfully handled its largest vessel ever, the RoRo MV Endurance. This giant, which is among the largest commercial RoRo vessels in the world, became the largest vessel ever received by the Philippos B terminal.
The unloading of the MV Endurance, whose deadweight is 72,708 tons, with a length of 264.6 meters and a width of 32.26 meters, began on April 28 and continued until the morning of the following day. More than 400 units of equipment and containers were unloaded during the operation. An area of more than 45,000 m² was used to accommodate the equipment, which is planned to be used for about a month – until the equipment is completely unloaded.
The client highly appreciated the work of the Euroports team, emphasizing in an official letter the “zero incident rate” and “impressive and coordinated interaction of all participants in the process.” This achievement is further confirmation of the high level of service that Euroports Mediterranean has demonstrated since it began operating in the new terminal in January this year.
