The Baltic Hub container terminal in Gdansk received the MSC Maura as part of the launch of the second ocean service of the Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) shipping line, which includes the Gdansk port in the Albatros route connecting the Far East with Europe. The 366-metre-long vessel with a capacity of 16,464 TEU sailed along the route via Asian and European ports, including Shanghai, Singapore, London and Bremerhaven.

The vessel was serviced using modern STS quay cranes at the new T3 berth, which, despite the ongoing construction of the terminal, already receives vessels from leading global operators. This event underlines the strategic importance of Baltic Hub in international logistics and the level of trust from key partners, notes Jan Van Mossevelde, CEO of the port.

The T3 project will be a key stage in the development of Baltic Hub: by the end of 2025, the terminal will increase the length of deep-water berths to 2.1 km and the total area to more than 124 hectares. Once the investment is completed, the throughput capacity will increase to 4.5 million TEU per year, strengthening Baltic Hub’s position among the largest container hubs in Europe.
