CLdN expands Killingholme terminal and reduces emissions.

CLdN is investing a multi-million pound upgrade at its Killingholme terminal on the River Humber to support the growth of North Sea shipping. The work is scheduled for completion in the second half of 2026. A key element of the project will be a complete overhaul of the logistics processes, increasing the handling and storage capacity of all types of cargo, from trailers and containers to tank containers and refrigerated vehicles.

As part of the environmental transformation, CLdN will replace some of its diesel equipment with five electric RTGs, reducing the terminal’s carbon footprint by 5-10% and improving the overall efficiency of its operations. This follows the company’s wider investment strategy in the UK, having previously expanded its Liverpool terminal and upgraded its Purfleet facility in London.

CLdN highlights the strategic importance of Killingholme as a key hub between the North of England and mainland Europe. The 100-hectare site operates 12 weekly services to Zeebrugge and Rotterdam, from where cargo is shipped to Ireland, Scandinavia and the Iberian Peninsula. The company operates ports in Killingholme, London and Liverpool, and over 200 short sea RoRo services a week across Europe.
