From January 2025, Hapag-Lloyd will launch a new East Med Express (EME) service, which will provide direct connections between London Gateway (UK), Rotterdam (Netherlands), Bremerhaven (Germany) and Antwerp (Belgium) with Egypt. The German carrier said the new route will be integrated with the Gemini Shuttle network, providing convenient connections to other regions of the Eastern Mediterranean and Northern Europe.
Hapag-Lloyd, which is preparing to enter a new alliance scheme with Maersk Line in February 2025, also announced the schedule of the first sailings. Thus, the vessel Johannes Maersk will start serving the route on January 11, 2025 in Rotterdam, and will arrive in the port of Saida (Egypt) on February 3. The launch of the new service underlines the company’s desire to strengthen its position in key markets.
