New transport connection between Turkey and Milan via Trieste.

The new service has been developed and implemented jointly by intermodal operator Alpe Adria, ro-ro operators DFDS, SBB Cargo International and the Port of Trieste. It connects the ro-ro terminal in Trieste with the Malpensa intermodal terminal in Sacconago, near Milan. The aim is to create a new sea and land bridge between Turkey and Milan, one of Italy’s major industrial centres.

The train will carry containers, tanks, swap bodies and semi-trailers. In the first phase, two services per week are planned, with a gradual increase in frequency. The new service will strengthen Alpe Adria’s position as a “one-stop shop” and container transport specialist.
