Active development of new logistics infrastructure continues in the Kuryk port in Kazakhstan. At the end of September, the first batch of cargo was received at the Sarzha terminal of the multifunctional sea terminal, and by the end of October, a ship with 4.5 thousand tons of metal is planned to be dispatched. The development project is being carried out by the Kazakhstani company SEMURG INVEST, which has completed key stages of construction, including berths and railway approaches. It is planned to fully complete all Sarzha facilities by 2030, which, according to the company’s CEO Nurzhan Marabayev, will increase the throughput capacity of the Middle Corridor by 10 million tons per year.
In parallel, work is underway to create a container hub in the port of Aktau on the basis of the special economic zone “Seaport Aktau”. The area of the new facility is 19 hectares, its completion is planned for the second quarter of 2025. The hub is expected to boost cargo transportation along the Trans-Caspian route and redirect part of the transit from China to Europe via Kazakhstan. The Chinese port of Lianyungang has already expressed interest in financing the project, which will speed up the transportation of goods through Kazakhstani hubs.
A number of other projects were also presented, including the creation of the international digital hub “Dry Port – Kolzhat” in the Almaty region and an agro-industrial hub near Almaty. These initiatives will help strengthen Kazakhstan’s position as a key logistics hub on the Eurasian continent and accelerate the region’s integration into international transport chains.
