KTZ: meeting with shippers and plans for infrastructure development.

A working meeting of the management of JSC NC Kazakhstan Temir Zholy with the largest shippers of the region was held in Karaganda, where they discussed factors affecting freight transportation. The Karaganda branch occupies a strategically important place in the railway network of Kazakhstan, annually handling about 50 million tons of cargo, which is a fifth of the total freight turnover of KTZ.

Over the first nine months of this year, the enterprises of the Karaganda branch shipped more than 36 million tons of cargo, which is 3% more than the same figure for 2023. The main share is coal transportation, which accounts for 55% of the total volume. The Shubarkol Komir coal mine provides 50% of the country’s needs for municipal coal. In addition, the transportation of construction materials (three times), non-ferrous ore (by 36%), as well as non-ferrous and ferrous metals (by 13% and 5%, respectively) has significantly increased.

The Karaganda branch is also actively developing infrastructure: construction of second tracks on the Moiynty-Dostyk section is underway and expansion to Kyzylzhar station is planned with further development of the Kyzylzhar-Arkalyk section. Measures are being implemented to develop the Kyzylzhar-Sekseul landfill, which will ensure an increase in transportation volumes and strengthening of the country’s transport links.
