A meeting was held in Baku between the Chairman of the Azerbaijan Railways Rovshan Rustamov and the Deputy Director General of the state-owned National Company Kyrgyz Railways Dastan Usubakunov. The talks were held within the framework of a consultative meeting of the heads of railway administrations on the establishment of the International Association “Eurasian Transport Route”.
The parties discussed the prospects for cooperation between Azerbaijan and Kyrgyzstan in the railway sector, as well as joint projects aimed at developing the Middle Corridor. An important issue was the increase in the volume of freight traffic between the countries.
Particular attention was paid to expanding the transit of goods from China through Kyrgyzstan. The parties noted that the completion of the Uzbekistan-Kyrgyzstan-China railway line will open up new opportunities for the Eurasian transport route.
