A container train departed from Xi’an to Budapest via the Trans-Caspian Corridor.

A ceremonial departure of a container train from China to Europe via the Trans-Caspian International Transport Corridor (TITR) took place in the Chinese city of Xi’an. According to AZERTAC, the train with 55 forty-foot containers left the Xi’an International Port station and is heading to Budapest.

The event was attended by representatives of the railways of Kazakhstan, China, Azerbaijan and Georgia, as well as officials from Shaanxi Province and Xi’an City. The train will travel about seven thousand kilometers to Baku in 8-11 days, and will arrive at its final destination, Budapest, in about 25 days.

The reduction in delivery times and improvement in service quality were made possible by effective cooperation between the railway and port administrations of the countries participating in the TITR corridor, which connects China with Europe via Kazakhstan, the Caspian Sea, Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey.
