JSC Ukrzaliznytsia and the European Railway Agency (ERA) signed a memorandum of cooperation aimed at improving the safety and interoperability of the Ukrainian railway system. This is an important step towards integrating Ukrainian railways into the European transport network in accordance with EU standards.
The partnership covers the implementation of EU safety and interoperability standards, which meets Ukraine’s obligations under the Association Agreement with the EU. The cooperation is also aimed at facilitating Ukraine’s integration into the Single European Railway System through the exchange of knowledge and best practices.
The main areas include the implementation of European legislation on technical standards for interoperability (TSI), support for the implementation of the European Rail Management System (ERTMS), as well as cooperation in the field of rolling stock, certification and maintenance.
