The Georgian Roads Department has announced an international tender for the construction of new roads that will connect Georgia with Armenia and Azerbaijan. The project will be financed by a €250 million loan from the European Investment Bank (EIB).

The project includes the construction of two road sections: from Rustavi to the Red Bridge, connecting to the border of Azerbaijan, and from Algeti to Sadakhlo, leading to the border of Armenia. These roads will be part of the East-West and South-North international transport corridors. The total length of four-lane concrete highways will be 61.3 km, including an external lighting system, 26 bridges and 11 road junctions, all of which will comply with international safety standards.

The construction will begin in 2025 and is scheduled to be completed in 30 months. The project will be co-financed by the EIB and the Government of Georgia. The design of the roads is supported by the World Bank, and the project was developed by a Dutch company.
