Luka Koper has announced the start of one of the company’s largest and most significant projects for the coming years. The state tender is for the construction of a container berth and additional storage facilities on the northern part of Pier 1. The deadline for applications is 30 September 2024.
The project includes the construction of a 326-metre-long berth, 7 hectares of storage and handling areas, dredging and the necessary energy infrastructure. The berth will be made of reinforced concrete and installed on deep steel piles, which will be driven to a depth of 66 metres below sea level to ensure the reliability and stability of the structure. The construction requires coordination with neighbouring terminals and marine operations, making the project challenging from both a technical and organisational point of view. Work is expected to commence early next year and be completed by the end of 2027.
