A new alliance of logistics centers and cargo carriers was created under the auspices of OTG.

A new Alliance of Logistics Centers and Cargo Carriers has been launched under the aegis of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) following its inaugural meeting on June 28, 2024, in Tashkent. The meeting, chaired by OTS Deputy Secretary General Dr. Mirvokhid Azimov, attracted over 100 participants, including representatives from more than 30 major logistics centers, ports, and transport companies from OTS member states. High-level officials from Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Transport, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Customs Committee, along with diplomatic missions from OTS countries, also attended the event.

In his opening speech, Deputy Secretary General Azimov highlighted the significance of this initiative, initiated by Uzbekistan’s private sector. He noted its alignment with the OTS Transport Connectivity Program and expressed hope that the Alliance would enhance private sector involvement in transport collaboration within the Turkic region. This initiative aims to unify logistics centers, carriers, terminals, and ports, promoting efficient cooperation, improving transport infrastructure, attracting investments through public-private partnerships, and introducing innovative solutions for fast, regular, and cost-effective freight transport.

The Alliance, which already has over 20 founding members, plans to expand its membership further. Participants underscored the symbolic importance of establishing this Alliance ahead of the OTS leaders’ Summit in Shusha, Azerbaijan, in July 2024, which will focus on transport and connectivity. Following the meeting, the Founding Agreement was signed, and the Charter of the Alliance was adopted. Mr. Askar Kadirov, Head of the Alliance Key Assets Group (Uzbekistan), was appointed as the Alliance’s Secretary General.
