Schavemaker’s fleet in Poland has officially welcomed its first SCANIA electric tractor unit, marking a significant milestone. This SCANIA 45R model, powered by 450 KW from three electric motors, represents the first zero-emission Scania tractor introduced in the country. The electric vehicle will transport containers between customer loading locations in Kalisz and Leszno and the Schavemaker railway terminal in Kąty Wrocławskie.
Once at the railway terminal, the containers will be loaded onto Schavemaker’s fully electric trains, heading to Moerdijk in the Netherlands. From there, they will either be delivered within the Netherlands and Belgium or shipped to Great Britain. The SCANIA 45R, equipped with a 400 kW fast charger, can complete the 270 km route up to four times a day, including 50-minute charging sessions after each trip.
This initiative is part of Schavemaker’s commitment to integrating alternative energy sources into their operations, aiming for greener and more efficient supply chains. The introduction of the electric tractor unit signifies a major step forward in sustainable transport and the advancement of electromobility in Poland’s heavy transport sector.
