The construction of a multimodal terminal in the suburbs of Belgrade, occupying 82 hectares between the Batajnica railway station and the E75 highway, is being completed. This terminal is equipped with two railway tracks, automobile access roads, a container area, an administrative building and other services. It will become the starting point for the delivery of containers from various cities in Serbia and European centers, which will be transported by road to recipients within a radius of about 100 km.
Funding for the project amounted to 13.8 million euros provided in the form of grants by the European Union and 1.7 million euros from the state budget. The terminal in Batajnica will become a key hub for new routes towards the cities of Novi Sad and Subotica in the north, Nis in the south, and possibly also for communication with the port of Bar. Its commissioning is expected to improve the region’s logistics and stimulate trade and economic development in the area.
