The President of the Port of Gdańsk, Krzysztof Kaczmarek, has inked significant agreements with PORR S.A. for the revitalization of Rudowe and Bytomskie Quays, totaling over 450 meters in length. These renovations, part of a broader initiative supported by the Connecting Europe Facility 2021-2027 (CEF 2), aim to bolster the port’s competitiveness and enhance cargo handling capabilities.
Under the umbrella of the ‘Improving the Port of Gdańsk infrastructure’ project, funded by nearly €100 million from the European Union, the reconstruction will cover four quays of the Inner Port spanning 1,916 meters. Initial upgrades will focus on Bytomskie Quay and Rudowe Quay, with plans for Wiślane and Węglowe Quays to follow once tender procedures conclude. Valued at PLN 142 million gross, these agreements envision completion within two years, enhancing infrastructure to accommodate larger vessels and modernize cargo handling operations.
The ambitious redevelopment includes extending Rudowe Quay III and enhancing Bytomskie Quay’s technical capabilities, enabling berthing of vessels up to 15,000 DWT. These efforts are complemented by the installation of new utilities, lighting, and mooring facilities, setting the stage for future onshore power supply initiatives. With recent investments totaling over PLN 700 million, the Port of Gdańsk underscores its commitment to modernization and sustainability, positioning itself as a pivotal hub in the European transport network.
