The EU’s implementation of the Import Control System (ICS2) for maritime cargo imports is progressing to its next stage, set to take effect from June onwards and impacting all shipments from third countries. Carriers must adhere to the stricter standards of ICS2 starting June 3, with a final deadline of December 4, 2024, while freight forwarders can initiate migration for self-declaration from December 4, 2024. Facilitating cooperation, a new form of declaration, Multiple Filing, simplifies collaboration between carriers and freight forwarders by allowing separate transmission of basic and additional information, merged later in the Shared Trader Interface (STI), with Gladiator anticipating a high adoption rate.

Emphasizing comprehensive import process evaluation, Gladiator underscores that success with ICS2 hinges on a holistic approach rather than isolated focus. Highlighting the need for detailed information at the goods item level to facilitate customs procedures, Gladiator warns of potential automatic cancellations and process delays otherwise. DAKOSY, well-prepared for the impending phase, offers a new ICS2 dashboard facilitating document uploads for customs queries, alongside resilient interfaces and comprehensive software support through ZODIAK GE.
