Cooperation between TRACECA and Kazakhstan with the Committee to improve the efficiency of regional transit and attract the transport industry

During the recent visit, Mr. Assavbayev, Secretary General of the PS IGC TRACECA, engaged in discussions with Mr. Maksat Kaliakparov, Vice-Minister of Transport of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The meeting delved into the status of TRACECA initiatives, emphasizing the potential for advancing transit cargo transportation through regional seaports. Mr. Assavbayev shared insights from a recent meeting at the Baku International Sea Trade Port, highlighting discussions with the Azerbaijan Caspian Shipping Company (ASCO) and addressing challenges hindering the timely dispatch of cargo vehicles.

ASCO representatives emphasized the necessity of streamlining waiting and registration processes at the Kuryk port to minimize vessel turnaround times. Vice-Minister Kaliakparov announced an upcoming online meeting with port and TITR representatives, inviting PS IGC TRACECA to participate. The discussion focused on permit system concerns that could impede transportation along TRACECA routes. Participants affirmed the need for coordinated measures among Caspian ports to enhance the efficiency of ferry dispatch and cargo vehicle transportation.

The meeting agenda centered on initiatives promoting transportation digitalization, aligning with World Bank recommendations. Additionally, the cooperation between TRACECA and TITR was explored, underscoring the integration of road transport within TITR-framed transportation. Both sides emphasized the mutually beneficial partnership in bilateral TRACECA-Kazakhstan relations and regional collaborations, aiming to unlock the full potential of the Europe-Caucasus-Asia corridor and fortify regional transport infrastructure. In conclusion, Mr. Assavbayev expressed gratitude to Vice-Minister Kaliakparov for the productive meeting, highlighting its contribution to strengthening relations and achieving common goals for corridor development.
