In a significant development, Vita Balode-Andrews, Board Member at SJSC “Latvijas dzelzceļš,” and executives from “LDZ ritošā sastāva serviss” Ltd., a subsidiary of SJSC Latvijas dzelzceļš, visited Ternopil Oblast in Ukraine to participate in the Ukraine-Latvia Business Forum. During the forum, Anda Sīviņa, Chairwoman of the Board at “LDZ ritošā sastāva serviss” Ltd., and Andriy Smorodin, Chairman of the Association of Ukrainian Transport Infrastructure Innovations, inked a memorandum of cooperation to foster economic, industrial, scientific, and technical collaboration.
Under the memorandum, “LDZ ritošā sastāva serviss” Ltd. and Ukrainian partners finalized a spare parts supply contract. This agreement ensures the procurement of essential Ukrainian-manufactured products for “LDZ ritošā sastāva serviss” Ltd.’s core operations. Anda Sīviņa emphasized the company’s adaptability in seeking new logistics chains and suppliers, expressing satisfaction that the contract facilitates a reliable spare parts supply while enabling Ukrainian exports to the Baltic countries.
Andriy Smorodin, Chairman of the Association of Ukrainian Transport Infrastructure Innovations, highlighted the historic significance of the contract, anticipating its impact on Ukrainian manufacturers entering Latvian and European markets. The agreement is expected to aid Latvia in substituting Russian products with Ukrainian alternatives, fostering joint projects between Ukraine and Latvia. Meanwhile, Vita Balode-Andrews explored collaboration opportunities with Ukrainian Railways and the Ukrainian Infrastructure Ministry, focusing on logistics cooperation and the shipment of Ukrainian agricultural products using Latvia’s railway infrastructure. The discussions also emphasized potential collaboration in rolling stock repair and spare parts supply between the two countries.
