Rhenus Switzerland has recently transformed its logistics building in Schaffhausen by integrating 2,511 photovoltaic modules, equipped with a specialized foil, onto its roof. The swift four-month renovation not only upgraded the facility but also introduced an ultramodern photovoltaic system spanning approximately 6,700 m2. This innovative system is projected to generate around 1,100,000 kWh of electricity annually, equivalent to the energy consumption of 220 Swiss households, contributing to a sustainable and secure power supply.
The implementation of this state-of-the-art photovoltaic system underscores Rhenus Switzerland’s commitment to environmentally friendly practices. The generated renewable energy will be seamlessly integrated into Rhenus’s network, providing power to three key structures on the site, including offices, warehousing, and rented spaces. With a logistics facility featuring 23 loading bays, over 15,000 pallet spaces, as well as block storage and stock-picking areas, the sustainable power source will effectively meet the energy demands of the entire complex, reinforcing Rhenus’s strides towards a greener and more energy-efficient operation.
