Lineas and FS Logistix officially opened the Modalink joint venture at the Antwerp Mainhub terminal, where the new operator will manage terminal infrastructure and develop intermodal services between the Port of Antwerp and European destinations. The grand opening was attended by representatives of the Italian and Belgian governments, company management, and key partners, underscoring the project’s strategic importance.

The Mainhub terminal is one of Europe’s most important logistics hubs: 200,000 m² of space, eight 700-meter tracks, three gantry cranes, six shuttle carriers, and a capacity of up to 200,000 containers per year. Modalink will optimize operations and expand intermodal capacity, strengthening the key north-south corridor from Belgium to Italy. Five weekly services between Antwerp and Milan will take over 13,000 trucks off the road annually, avoiding over 46,000 tonnes of CO₂ emissions, and will also provide connections to the terminals of Pomezia, Marcianise, and Catania.

The partnership combines FS Logistix’s expertise in terminal operations with Lineas’s experience in haulage and operational services. Modalink’s ownership structure (30% FS Logistix and 70% Lineas) confirms the parties’ long-term ambition to create a more sustainable, connected, and efficient logistics network in Europe.
