DB Fernverkehr has selected ELL as the winner of its sale-and-leaseback tender covering 21 Vectron Dual Mode locomotives.
The arrangement follows DB Fernverkehr’s plan to receive the locomotives from the manufacturer and pass them on to the contractor in roughly six batches between December 2025 and November 2026. The locomotives will not enter commercial service before the resales. Each locomotive enters the lease immediately after the change of ownership.
The wet lease covers an eight-year period and includes full-service maintenance as set out in the draft contract. Handover points for maintenance are Niebüll and Munich or, depending on allocation defined in the tender documents, Niebüll, Berlin, Frankfurt am Main, and Munich. ELL is responsible for arranging and financing the transfers between these locations and its workshop facilities, including the return trips.
According to the award, the contract begins on 13 January 2026 and runs until 31 October 2034.
