MEDWAY launches new railway routes in France and Austria.

Freight transport operator MEDWAY, part of the logistics company MEDLOG (MSC Group), is expanding its network of rail routes in Europe. On December 14, 2025, the inaugural train service in France, for one of Europe’s largest steel mills, departed between Café and the port city of Dunkirk. The train, carrying up to 3,600 tons of lime and limestone, will operate daily.

In Austria, MEDWAY launched three weekly services between Linz, Wels, and the Italian port of Trieste, the largest on the Adriatic coast. The new service is integrated with MEDLOG’s multimodal network and targets companies in the forestry, pulp and paper, automotive, and retail industries.

MEDWAY already operates in Belgium, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, and Switzerland, making it the largest private rail operator on the Iberian Peninsula. In addition, in December 2025, after two years of negotiations, an agreement was reached with the Spanish national operator Renfe Mercancías to establish a joint venture, which will expand the company’s capabilities in the Iberian Peninsula market.
