KTZ is launching a pilot KinetiX system for automatic train control at Astana station.

JSC NC Kazakhstan Temir Zholy is piloting the innovative KinetiX rolling stock inspection system at Astana station. The system has already been installed and, according to KTZ’s press service, will be fully operational in the first quarter of 2026. The system’s performance was assessed by the company’s Chairman of the Board, Talgat Aldybergenov, Deputy Chairman of the Board, Murat Toregeldin, and Director of the Transportation Process Directorate branch, Vladimir Petrov, during a visit to Sorokovaya station.

The KinetiX system is designed to improve the accuracy of car component diagnostics and enables early prediction of repair schedules and scopes, directly impacting train safety. The system automatically scans cars in motion without stopping trains, using cameras, 3D scanning technologies, infrared, acoustic, and vibration sensors, as well as artificial intelligence algorithms. The system includes subsystems for monitoring bogies, braking equipment, wheelsets, axlebox bearings, and automatic coupling devices.

All detected defects are automatically transmitted to specialists, enabling rapid response and more efficient repair planning. KTZ notes that the implementation of KinetiX reduces personnel workload, shortens car inspection time, and increases railway capacity. The system is planned to be rolled out in six more regions of Kazakhstan and integrated with the company’s other digital platforms. KinetiX technology is already in use at over 400 facilities worldwide and is considered by KTZ as an important element in building a smart and sustainable railway infrastructure.
