DHL Supply Chain to build carbon-neutral logistics center in Rheinbach.

DHL Supply Chain, the contract logistics arm of the DHL Group, is expanding its capacity in the Rhineland region. The company is building a new carbon-neutral logistics center in the Wolbersacker Industrial Park in Rheinbach. The approximately 26,600 square meter complex will include modern warehousing and transhipment facilities, and is scheduled to open in August 2026.

As Katrin Hölter, CEO of DHL Supply Chain Germany & Alps, noted, the project is being implemented in response to the growing demand for flexible and efficient logistics space. The new center will enable companies to deliver goods faster to domestic and European markets, increasing supply chain resilience and reducing the risk of disruptions. The facility will also create additional opportunities for various industries, from traditional warehousing to e-commerce fulfillment and automated logistics solutions.

The logistics complex will be built to the “Gold” standard of the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB) and equipped with modern energy-efficient technologies, including a 1 MW solar power plant, battery storage, heat pumps, and energy-saving LED lighting. Thanks to its proximity to the A61 motorway, Cologne/Bonn and Düsseldorf airports, and integration with DHL logistics networks and the Port of Duisburg, the new center will become an important element of the region’s transport corridors and create additional jobs.
