The Ministry of Transport of Kazakhstan is overseeing the implementation of the Bakhty-Ayagoz railway project.

During a working visit to the Abay region, Kazakhstan’s Vice Minister of Transport Zhanibek Taizhanov held a meeting on the implementation of the Bakhty-Ayagoz railway project. The meeting was also attended by the region’s Deputy Akim, Serik Tulenbergenov, representatives of JSC NC Kazakhstan Temir Zholy, the Samruk-Kazyna Fund, the general contractor, China Harbour Engineering Company Ltd., and the design organization. The parties discussed the current construction progress and coordination among all project participants.

The Bakhty-Ayagoz project is considered a key one for the development of Kazakhstan’s transport infrastructure and the formation of a unified railway corridor. The total length of the new line will be 303 km. The project includes the construction of 11 derailment points, 68 bridges, and 355 culverts. The project’s implementation should increase the capacity of the railway network and improve transport connectivity in the region.

Engineering surveys have been completed, and four temporary worker camps have been built in the Ai, Sholpan, Urzhar, and Bakhty districts. Construction of the railway line is scheduled for completion by the end of 2027. According to Zhanibek Tayzhanov, for the project’s successful implementation, it is essential to ensure clear communication between the ministry, JSC NC KTZ, contractors, and local authorities. The Ministry of Transport continues to monitor the progress of the work.
