METRANS launches south Poland – north Slovakia rail service.

METRANS will launch a direct rail freight connection between its terminal in Dąbrowa Górnicza, Poland, and Žilina, Slovakia, starting 14 April 2026.

The new link connects southern Poland and north-western Slovakia within the METRANS terminal network. It is designed to provide a direct shuttle between the two inland hubs without intermediate handling.

According to the company, the service will reduce transit times for shipments moving between Slovakia and Polish seaports. In the southbound direction, it is intended to shorten transit times to and from the ports of Koper and Istanbul, while also improving rail connections to Romania, Hungary and Serbia.

METRANS positions Dąbrowa Górnicza as a hub for its operations in southern Poland. The new service forms part of the operator’s development of the north–south corridor linking the Baltic and Adriatic regions.
