LTG Infra has begun implementing a Yard Management System (YMS) across Lithuania’s entire national rail infrastructure. The new digital station management platform will replace the STOKIS system, which had been in use for over 20 years and no longer met modern cybersecurity, data exchange, and EU standards. The project, valued at approximately €2.6 million, also includes ten years of technical support and maintenance.
The YMS will become the key digital foundation for traffic planning, station operations management, and data accounting. Previously, station operations were fragmented and largely manual, complicating planning and increasing the risk of errors. The new system fully automates these processes. A pilot phase will be conducted at six stations, after which the solution will be rolled out across the entire network, which includes 106 stations.
Integrating the YMS with traffic management systems and SAP will enable real-time data transfer to accounting systems and fully automate invoicing. Carriers will be able to more accurately plan resources, speed up wagon turnover, and receive standardized messages in a European data format. The winner of the implementation tender was the Polish company Petrosoft.pl Technologie Informatyczne, which has experience developing IT solutions for the railway industry.
