Carus has partnered with Hibernia Line to implement a comprehensive digital platform for a new ferry route connecting Ireland and France. The company officially announced the partnership, specifying that the service will link the cities of Cork and Boulogne-sur-Mer and is scheduled to commence operations in June 2026. Carus – headquartered in the Åland Islands and specializing in IT solutions for the maritime industry – will deploy a complete “IT suite” for the operator, comprising an online booking system, mobile applications, onboard POS terminals, and integrated payment solutions.
Collaboration between the two companies began in January 2026 with a technical planning phase, followed by the signing of contracts in March. On May 7, 2026, the booking system developed by Carus went live on the Hibernia Line website. This enabled the company to begin accepting bookings well in advance of the route’s actual launch, as well as to test the digital processes for serving both passengers and freight shippers.
The new ferry line will operate daily sailings in both directions using the chartered vessels Saint Patrick and Akka. The project aims to address the growing demand for passenger and freight transport between Ireland and continental Europe. The route’s launch is being spearheaded by Aidan Coffey – a maritime transport expert specializing in Irish-European routes – who is coordinating the operational aspects of the project, while Carus is responsible for providing the digital infrastructure underpinning the line’s entire service model.
