Talgat Aldybergenov, Chairman of the Management Board of JSC NC “Kazakhstan Temir Zholy” (KTZ), held talks with John Olin, Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Wabtec. The meeting took place ahead of the Foreign Investors’ Council session attended by the President of Kazakhstan and focused on prospects for further cooperation within the railway industry.
Representatives from KTZ and Wabtec discussed the modernization of the locomotive fleet, the expansion of service infrastructure, the localization of production, and the implementation of modern digital technologies. Talgat Aldybergenov emphasized that Wabtec remains a key strategic partner for the national carrier, noting that the companies’ long-standing cooperation contributes to enhanced rolling stock reliability and greater efficiency in rail transportation. KTZ also expressed interest in expanding collaboration across the entire locomotive lifecycle – ranging from equipment supply and maintenance to the implementation of innovative solutions and workforce training.
Particular attention was paid to expanding the local production of components in Kazakhstan, developing modern service centers, and utilizing digital systems for monitoring locomotive technical conditions, including predictive diagnostic technologies. Following the meeting, KTZ and Wabtec reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening their strategic partnership, implementing joint investment and technological projects, and fostering greater transportation efficiency and the development of Kazakhstan’s transit potential.
