A modern Border Control Point will be built in the port of Gdansk.

The Port of Gdansk has launched a major infrastructure project – the construction of an Integrated Border Control Point (ZPKG) next to the Baltic Hub terminal. The new centre, covering an area of over 2 hectares, will unite the work of all control services in one place, which will simplify and speed up inspections of goods arriving in the European Union and increase the efficiency of the port against the backdrop of growing cargo turnover.

The agreement on the first stage of the project – the preparation of design and estimate documentation – was signed on 28 May by the Governor of the Pomeranian Voivodeship Beata Rutkiewicz and the President of the Port of Gdansk Dorota Pycz in the presence of the Minister of the Interior Tomasz Siemoniak. It is planned that the facility will be staffed by employees of the tax and veterinary inspectorates, the sanitary and epidemiological service, as well as the food quality and plant growing inspectorate – a total of about 235 people per shift.

The complex will include a 9-storey office building and a 3-storey control building with a total area of over 15 thousand m², a parking lot for 230 cars and direct access to the Baltic Hub terminal. The project is equipped with “green” solutions: solar installations will supply excess energy to the grid. The first stage is estimated at 6.4 million zlotys, construction and equipment will cost 157 million zlotys, the facility is planned to be completed by 2030.
