In the first month of 2024, “ADY Express,” a subsidiary of CJSC «Azerbaijan Railways», reported a substantial surge in freight transportation, showcasing remarkable growth compared to the same period last year. The statistics reveal a notable increase, with a total volume of transported goods reaching 453,621 tons, marking a 31% rise, equivalent to 108,597 tons, over the 345,024 tons recorded in January 2023.
This impressive growth extends to both transit and export-import cargoes, attributed in part to the heightened transit shipments passing through Azerbaijan. Notably, “ADY Express” witnessed a boost in transit goods from 240,370 tons in January 2023 to 280,838 tons in January 2024, reflecting a 17% increase of 40,469 tons. The Middle Corridor, serving as the preferred route for international transport between East and West, facilitated the majority of transit goods, solidifying Azerbaijan’s position as a crucial transit hub connecting China, Central Asian countries, and Europe efficiently.
