Adriatic Gate Container Terminal (AGCT), part of the ICTSI Group, officially unveiled its new super post-Panamax quayside cranes to industry participants at the Port of Rijeka, Croatia. The equipment is already undergoing commissioning and technical testing, and is scheduled to enter full operation before the end of this year.
The new cranes, manufactured by the Chinese company ZPMC, are the latest generation of super post-Panamax cranes. They were tailored to AGCT’s specific operational requirements, including special lifting capacity parameters. With a boom outreach of 67.5 meters, the terminal can handle the largest container ships currently in service worldwide.
According to AGCT CEO Emmanuel Papagiannakis, the delivery and installation of the new cranes marks the first important step in the terminal’s long-term modernization program. The company’s management emphasizes that the infrastructure upgrade is aimed at increasing the throughput capacity and competitiveness of the Port of Rijeka on the Adriatic route.
