According to the results of 10 months of 2024, the Almaty freight transportation department improved 13 operational indicators, fulfilling 10 out of 15 key plans. The handling volume reached 15.4 million tons, which is 113% compared to the same period in 2023, and freight turnover with China increased by 13%, reaching 26.5 million tons. Significant growth was noted on international routes through the Altynkol (+10%) and Dostyk (+15%) points. Exports and imports also show a stable increase – by 14% and 10%, respectively.
The department continues to implement infrastructure and innovation projects, including “Construction of second tracks on the Dostyk – Moiynty section” and pilot programs such as the TripOptimizer system for fuel savings and “Paperless reporting”. Other digital initiatives include the introduction of an electronic wagon sheet and optimization of document flow through the E-Telegram system.
To improve working conditions, repair work has been completed at key facilities, including signaling posts and administrative buildings, with further modernization planned. The department focuses on safety and strives to improve the efficiency of its operations, developing transit potential and strengthening its position on international routes.
