The international technology group ANDRITZ has received an order to design a 100-megawatt green hydrogen plant in the German port of Rostock. The customer is the REPCO consortium, which unites RWE Generation SE, EnBW Neue Energien GmbH, RheinEnergie AG and Rostock Port GmbH. The final investment decision is expected in mid-2025, after which ANDRITZ will begin supplying the equipment and constructing the facility. The plant will be one of the first stations connected to the German Hydrogen Core Network and the future European Hydrogen Corridor.

The project will be implemented based on high-pressure alkaline electrolysis technology from HydrogenPro. The complex will include hydrogen production facilities, purification and compression systems, storage facilities and a filling station. The start-up of the plant is scheduled for 2027. The produced hydrogen will be used in industry and the transport sector, supporting Germany’s decarbonization strategy.

REPCO CEO Michael Wurzel emphasized that the plant will be a key element of the HyTechHafen Rostock project, strengthening the region’s role as an energy transport hub. For ANDRITZ, this is already the second major order for the construction of a green hydrogen plant in Germany – the first was a project for Salzgitter Flachstahl GmbH.
