Baltic Hub: record year and ambitious plans for the future

Baltic Hub, the largest container terminal in the Baltic Sea, reflects on a record-breaking 2023 filled with significant investments and new partnerships. The company is optimistic about the future, unveiling ambitious plans for the coming years.

In 2023, Baltic Hub achieved a milestone by handling its 20 millionth container in September, contributing to an operational result of 2,050,813 TEU for the year. Notable accomplishments included the highest throughput during a single call, recording 13,195 TEU on the Marit Maersk in September, and the construction of Terminal T3, a key investment. Charles Baker, CEO of Baltic Hub, highlighted the dynamic development and innovation, emphasizing the company’s position in both the domestic and global markets.

The past year showcased Baltic Hub’s commitment to diverse transportation modes, with over 6,700 trains served on the railway siding and a substantial truck movement exceeding 580,000. In maritime transport, Baltic Hub handled over 600 ships, including 105 oceanic vessels. The completion of Terminal T3, equipped with cutting-edge technology for efficient container handling, is set to increase the terminal’s annual throughput capacity to 4.5 million TEU.

Expanding collaborations, Baltic Hub strengthened ties with CMA CGM in 2023, consolidating all Polish CMA CGM shipments in the hub and extending the flagship oceanic service, French Asia Line 1, to Gdańsk. The hub also added 10 electric RTG cranes to its machinery fleet, which will operate automatically in 2024, contributing to a safer and more modern working environment. With a focus on sustainability, efficiency, and social engagement, Baltic Hub is set to continue investments, infrastructure development, and partnerships in the coming year.
