Cargo turnover at Turkish ports increased in January-February.

Turkish ports increased cargo turnover by 2.4% in the first two months of 2025, handling 89.31 million tons. However, in February, there was a decrease of 7.9% to 40.37 million tons. The largest ports were Aliaga (7.41 million tons), Iskenderun (5.62 million tons), Kocaeli (5.42 million tons) and Tekirdag (4.11 million tons), while the top ten ports handled a total of 34.58 million tons (85.7% of the total).

Portland cement (788.2 thousand tons), diesel fuel (542.5 thousand tons) and rebar (367.1 thousand tons) led the export shipments, with the main destinations being Italy, the USA, Egypt, Spain and Greece. Imports were dominated by LNG (2.24 million tons), oil (1.98 million tons) and scrap metal (1.5 million tons), with the United States being the main supplier of liquefied gas.

Container turnover in February increased by 12.3%, reaching 1.02 million TEU, but for the first two months of 2025, the figure remained almost at the same level as last year – 2.18 million TEU (-0.03%).
